What Are Micro Interactions In UI Design

Micro-interactions play a very crucial role in his digital world. We may not notice this micro-interaction in our daily life, but we bond with the micro-interaction from the time we wake up with an alarm and till we sleep at night, we all are interconnected with micro-interaction. Micro-interactions are the thing that makes the interaction between the user and the design. When they are well designed, they will be useful to enhance the user's experience, and when they are not designed well, it will damage the user's experience.

What is called Micro-interaction?

Micro-interactions are the events that perform the main and a specific task for a single purpose, and the micro-interactions can be found all over the device and in the apps. Micro-interactions can be found only when the users will cleanly observe them. Otherwise, they cannot be found. We can see the thumbs up symbol in the Facebook messenger that will increase when we hold to that symbol.

This animation of increasing the symbol is the best example of micro-interactions. This animation will fulfil the following important functions:

* It will communicate the message and send feedback in the form of a symbol in an animated format.

* It will enhance the sense of direct manipulation.

* It will help the people to find the results of the actions between the two people.

Micro-interactions have four parts included it:-

1) Triggers

2) Rules

3) Feedback

4) Loops and Modes

Triggers:-

* Triggers will initiate the micro-interaction; this will initiate the process to be done in the device. Triggers can be done based on the user-initiation or can be based on the system initiation.

* In these, both the initiations user-initiation trigger will work on the action to be taken.

* The system-initiation trigger will take out the software actions that are being met and initiate the action to be done.

Rules:-

Rules will be determined once the micro-interaction is triggered.

Feedback:-

As we all know, the feedback is given when using or understanding what is going on there. In this micro-interaction, feedback will provide information for the user about what is happening there. When the user can see, hear, or feel when a micro-interaction is happening, it is called feedback.

Loops and Modes:-

Loops and Modes will determine the rules that need to be followed by the micro-interactions. It will mainly focus on the change that will happen when the condition of the micro-interaction changes.

Importance of Micro-interactions in the Digital Product Designing:-

When we are going to make a product, we will forget about our main goal, i.e., we need to change the habit of humans to use our product more often. We will make some digital products that will be more useful for humans, and we want them to use them more and more. These habits are the key to change human behaviour, and micro-interactions will be used to form these habits. A product is said to have a good design when we find that the user will get attracted to the product and the micro-interaction present in the product we prepare. If the user's attention is not going on to the product we prepare, it means something mistake has been made in the design, which means that there is no interaction between the user and the design we prepare while designing the product.

Micro-interactions can make the users engage at a very relatively low cost. We all humans want to get more reward with a low investment. Micro-interactions can do this. It can be done when you provide an extra provision for the users that they come back to the product again if they like it.

A Successful Micro-interaction:-

We can call a micro-interaction a successful micro-interaction when they are slightly notable by the user before they fade away. It is like a good animation that is invisible, and we cannot notice a micro-interaction over there. A successful micro-interaction should be small and simple then it will become a successful micro-interaction. It will provide us with feedback and follow the rules whether we use it for the first time or the fiftieth time.

A successful micro-interaction will save the user's precious time by instantly communicating the information so that the user need not be distracted by their attention and can catch the user’s attention. A successful micro-interaction is said to be when the user cannot distract their attention when using it for the 1st time or the 100th time.

Micro-interactions to improve UX design:-

The following are some of the guidelines that are needed to follow by implementing Micro-interactions in the UI design:

* Make sure and do not let the user feel bored, and you need to keep them informed and engaged with our product design or UI design.

* You need to keep it simple and short so it can be called micro-interactions for a reason.

* Remember that while we are doing the animation for the page, state changes, or transition between2 visuals, it must be clear, smooth and effortless.

* We need to focus and hit on the user's emotions that play a major role in the user interactions and users habits.

* We need to be predictable. Users are tuned for the set of behaviours. We don't want to change these long-established relations between the users.

Final Note

Micro-interactions are the thing that makes the interaction between the user and the design. So well-designed micro-interactions should make a major impact on the user experience. We need to keep in mind that we need to pick up the user's attention even when they are using it for the 1st or 50th time. Quora Web Solution is termed to be the expert in this field. They will provide value for our work by serving the information for the users like a vehicle and can communicate with the user.

Micro-interactions will provide us with all the feedback and follow the rules provided at the beginning of the project. So micro-interactions will play a crucial role in the present digital life scenario and maintain an interaction between the user and the design.
